KEENE, N.H.--Hope Walsh and Kyle Shadeck each won three events as the Keene State College swimming and diving team opened up the second half of the season with a dual meet against Roger Williams University on Wednesday night. The Keene State women won 134-103, while the Owl men were defeated 163-73.
Women's Highlights
Walsh took home three wins, taking the 200 free in 2:01.66, nearly a three second win. She also won the 500 free in 5:23.97 to take a nearly six second win, dominated the 1,650 free in 10:57.29, more than 30 seconds ahead of the second place finisher. Sophie Hayes nabbed a win in the 200 fly, in 2:15.69, and Katie Brandeberry won the 200 IM in 2:19.47.
Hayes and Brandeberry, along with Madison Pechulis and Hannah Wood, won the 400 medley relay, in 4:11.96. Pechulis also had a win in the 200 breaststroke in 2:36.32. Jessica Masotta took both diving events, scoring 178.42 on the 1-meter board, and 138.97 on the 3-meter board.
Men's Highlights
Shadeck claimed three wins, including individual wins in the 200 IM, in 2:01.60, and the 200 fly in 1:58.72, while also being part of the winning 400 medley relay with Antony Hubbard, JT Barth, and Eric King that finished first in 3:44.51.
Bryce Bowie was second in the 1,650 free in 11:07.75, while King narrowly missed a win in the 200 free, placing second in 1:54.55, less than half a second out of first place. King was also second in the 100 free, in 50.69. Barth added a second place nod in 2:19.96, and Braeden Huot was third in 1-meter diving, scoring 144.90.
The season continues this weekend with a dual meet against Bentley University on January 13 at 1 p.m.
