PLYMOUTH, N.H.--The Keene State College women's track and field team had their highest team finish at the conference championship in several years, placing second overall at the Little East Conference/Alliance Indoor Track and Field Championships at the AllWell North Center at Plymouth State University on Saturday. The Owl men were fifth.
Women's Highlights
The Owls won five individual championships, including a win in the 60 meter hurdles by Alexis Gauthier, who clocked in at 9.53 seconds, just nipping twin sister Skyler Gauthier, who was second in 9.59 seconds.
Lauren Perkowski cruised to a win in the 5,000 meters, dominating the field in 18:40.92 to set a new Davis Track and Little East Conference record as she won by more than a minute over the next finisher. Lynne Hebert won the 1,000 meters in 3:06.82 to set a new facility record, and Shannon Parks won the shot put by throwing 12.16 meters, exactly .20 meters over the second place thrower.
Nicole De Almeida rounded out the quintet of KSC victories, with an impressive win in the 600 meters in 1:40.68. Brittany Gravallese was second in the 800 meters in 2:26.41, while Amanda Deppert was fourth in the 60 meter dash in 8.32 seconds and fourth in the 400 meter dash in 1:02.10. Perkowski was also third in the mile in 5:21.36, and Hebert was third in the 3,000 meters in 11:23.76.
Alexis Gauthier added a fifth place nod in the long jump at exactly 5 meters, and Erin McNemar was sixth in the high jump at 1.50 meters, in an event where just .05 meters separated the top six places.
Men's Highlights
The Owls grabbed a win in the 4x200 meter relay, as Angel Ramirez, Anthony Jennings, Clinton Mungeta, and Jared Hannon topped the field in 1:33.51. Hannon, Jennings, Mungeta, and Alex Medina were third in the 4x400 meter relay in 3:32.77, while Tyler DeChane, Robby St. Laurent, Zach Coburn, and Cameron Giordano made up the 4x800 meter relay that finished in fourth in 8:39.04.
Hannon was fourth in the long jump at 6.41 meters, while Ramirez was fifth in the 60 meter dash in 7.34 and third in the 200 meter dash in 23.48. Mungeta added a second place finish in the 400 meter dash in 52.45.
Medina was fourth in the 600 meters in 1:29.19, and DeChane was fifth in the 1,000 meters in 2:41.74. Iid Sheikh-Yusuf was sixth in the 5,000 meters in 16:36.18.
