NORTH ADAMS, Mass.--Sophomore striker
Nicholas Dalesio netted his fourth goal of the season to lead the Keene State College men's soccer team to a hard-fought 1-0 win over the Massachusetts College of Liberal Arts on Wednesday night at Shewcraft Field.
Records
- Keene State: 4-6-3
- MCLA: 4-8-1
How it Happened
The Owls piled on the chances, including
Declan Coughlin's header in the 16th minute that was saved by MCLA goalie Sam Edge.Â
Vance Bates was also stopped by Edge in the 28th minute, as the Owls outshot MCLA 11-8 in the first half. Â
Caleb Harmon had a pair of opportunities in the second half, testing edge with a shot, and heading right at the goalie from the resulting corner. The breakthrough came in the 69th minute, as
Clinton Mungeta found himself in space on the right wing, and his slide rule pass was right on the money for Dalesio to tap in at the near post.
The Trailblazers responded with a free kick from Junior Florent that went wide and
Gavin Fitzpatrick, making his first start of the season, saved again from Florent in the 76th minute and from Max Whalen in the 79th minute to preserve the win.
Fitzpatrick made four saves for the Owls to grab the win. Edge made eight stops.
