Owls Grind Out Scoreless Draw With UMass Dartmouth

KSC Plays OT For Fourth Time This Season

NORTH DARTMOUTH, Mass.--The Keene State College men's soccer team picked up a valuable point with a 0-0 draw in double-overtime against UMass Dartmouth on Friday night at Cressy Field.

Records
  • Keene State: 1-5-2, 1-1-1 LEC
  • UMass Dartmouth: 5-3-2, 2-1-1 LEC

How it Happened

Keene State senior netminder Anthony Pasciuto made five stops to pick up the decision, while counterpart Jacob Castro made nine stops.  The Owls held a 23-15 advantage in shots, including a 9-5 edge in shots on goal, but could not find a winner.

John Aguiar had the first chance of the game for the Corsairs but Pasciuto got down low to make the stop.  Denis Fleming gave the Owls their first opportunity on net in the 26th minute before Castro made the save.    Keene State poured on the pressure as the first half wore down, as Clinton Mungeta, Declan Coughlin, and Nicholas Dalesio all had attempts on net, but Castro denied them all.

Chances were harder to come by in the second half, but Pasciuto came up big with a stop on Rony Morales with less than five minutes remaining to send the game into overtime.

Castro kept his team in the game in the first overtime, stopping KSC's John Gouthro and Caleb Harmon seconds apart in the 94th minute.  Neither team managed a shot on net in the final period as the teams saw out the game.

Inside the Box
  • The result was Keene State's second scoreless tie of the season; you would need to go all the way back to 2007 to find the last time the Owls had two scoreless ties.  Keene State also finished 0-0 against both Babson and Eastern Connecticut State that season.
  • Pasciuto earned his eighth career shutout.
