NORTH DARTMOUTH, Mass.--Junior
Shannon Parks broke her own school record in the shot put for the second time this season, leading the Owls to a third place finish at the Little East Conference Outdoor Track and Field Championships on Saturday at UMass Dartmouth.
Parks threw the shot put 12.45 meters, breaking her previously held mark of 12.43 meters set earlier this year at the AIC Invitational to win the event going away; the next closest competitor was UMass Boston freshman Teya Drumm, who threw 11.55 meters.
Senior
Alexis Gauthier won the 100 meter hurdles in 15.49, while graduate student
Nicole De Almeida won the 400 hurdles in 1:08.02.
Grace Furlong was second in the 5,000 meters in 19:50.43, and
Hannah Jones was fifth in the same event in 20:40.04.
Christina Martin was third in the 10,000 meters in 43:58.67. Keene State also took second in the 4x100 meter relay as
Alexis Gauthier,
Skyler Gauthier,
Amanda Deppert, and De Almeida finished in 51.29, and the same four were second again in the 4x400 meter relay in 4:15.40.
Alexis Gauthier was also fourth in the 200 meter dash, and
Skyler Gauthier was fourth in the 800 meters in 2:34.29.
Skyler Gauthier was third in the long jump at 4.89 meters, and
Alexis Gauthier was sixth at 4.69 meters.
Naomi Murzin was third in the discus with a throw of 33.51 meters, while Parks was sixth in that event at 32.30 meters. Parks was also sixth in the hammer at 38.82 meters. Junior
Amanda Deppert was seventh in the 100 meter dash in 13.61.
All first and second place finishers were named All-LEC in their respective events. Keene State finished third as a team, with 92 points.
