Owls Wrap Up Four-Game Homestand With Loss, Now Play Six of Next Eight On Road

Box Score

KEENE, N.H. – Amherst College entered tonight's game off a road win over then-No. 7 Bowdoin last weekend that propelled them to a national No. 15 ranking this week and did not slow down, defeating the Keene State College field hockey team 7-0 on Tuesday night at Owl Athletic Complex to wrap up the Owls' season-long four-game homestand.

Records
  • Keene State:  1-5
  • No. 15 Amherst:  3-0
How It Happened
Muffie Mazambani got the scoring started in the 13th minute and finished with two goals and two assists for Amherst, who scored twice in 23 seconds to take a 2-0 lead late in the opening quarter and added another just 2:23 into the second quarter on Kat Mason's goal.  Mazambani added her second tally in the final five minutes of the first half, and the Mammoths were well on their way to a win, leading 4-0 at the break.  Prior to her tally, KSC did have a chance to get on the board down three when they had three consecutive penalty corners, but Clara Hunkins' shot was stopped by Amherst goalkeeper Kaitlin Broda and Emma Cahoon's try went wide.  The Mammoths' fourth tally came just 1:57 after that succession of Keene State penalty corners.

Molly Edmark (1-5) made four of her 13 saves in the third quarter to keep the score at 4-0, but Amherst tacked on three more in the final quarter, including scoring twice in 1:09 early in the period.

Broda (3-0) made a pair of stops in 52:29 of action before Sara Nidus played the final 7:31.
