BOSTON, Mass.--The Keene State College cross country teams tuned up for the Little East Conference championships with strong performances at the Suffolk Invitational at Franklin Park on Saturday.
Men's Results
Senior
Jacob Pearl was seventh overall and the second amongst Division III competitiors (the top five places were taken by Division I runners) in 26:12.3.
Marty Nelligan was next, in 85th place in 29:51.8, and
Ben Harley was after him in 93rd place, with a time of 30:22.8.
Tyler Robinson (127th, 31:47.5),
Samuel Hennedy (139th, 32:39.9), and
Michael Gigliotti (184th, 37:23.1) rounded out the Owl runners.
Keene State was 14th overall and with 358 points; Boston University won the team event by placing the top four runners in the field, led by freshman Moritz Ebbeskotte.
Women's Results
On the women's side,
Maggie St. John and
Grace Furlong both posted top-20 finishes as the Owls finished fourth overall and second amongst Division III schools. St. John was 17th, in 24:23.5, while Furlong was 19th in 24:38.4.
Anna O'Reilly was 31st in 25:26.6, and
Aurora Couto was 46th in 26:14.6.
Hannah Jones (61st, 27:10.9),
Alana Perry (63rd, 27:24.8),
Sara Christian (71st, 27:49.9),
Sarah O'Connell (73rd, 27:54.5),
Juliana Yialiades (81st, 28:17.1),
Sarah Ames (103rd, 29:44.1),
Kailyn Fleury (105th, 29:57.7),
Autumn Boisvert (31:42.0), and
Melanie French (155th, 35:13.3), were the rest of the KSC runners.
The Owls were only behind Division I Boston University and Northeastern, as well as the University of New England. The Huskies' Madison Neuner was the individual winner in 22:58.4.
Keene State returns to the trails on October 29 at the Little East Conference Championships, back at Franklin Park and hosted by UMass Boston. The Owl women are seeking their 19th LEC title and first since 2018. The KSC men, meanwhile are looking for their first title since 2015 and their 16th overall.
