Keene State Claims 18th LEC Swim and Dive Championship

Men Second In First Ever Conference Championship

BOSTON, Mass.--For the 18th time in school history, Keene State College is top of the heap in women's swimming and diving in the Little East Conference.  The Owls racked up 855 points to win from wire-to-wire in the championship held at the Boston Sports Institute.

Women's Highlights
Swimming & Diving Postgame 2.22.2022- Emily Rogers won the 1,650 meter race in dominating fashion, in 19:00.43, nearly a 10 second win over Eastern Conn.'s Kerry Buchanan.
- Jaelin Jang captured the 200 fly in 2:17.76
- Alice Loucraft won the 100 IM in 59.77.
- Kiley Young, Carey, Jang, and Loucraft teamed up for a win in the 400 free relay in a meet record 3:39.45.  Keene State's 2013 relay team of Taylor Dasilva, Stephanie Murray, Brianna Laliberte, and Alison Bartlett had set the mark at 3:39.56.
- The Owls added to their championships win from 2000-2002, and again from 2006 to 2020.  The 2021 championship was cancelled due to the COVID-19 pandemic.  KSC was well ahead of second placed Bridgewater State, which finished with 719 points.

Men's Highlights
- The Owls captured the top 3 places in the 1,650, led by Aidan Urnezis in 16:57.31.  Quint Kimmel was in second in 17:31.41, and Samuel Galipeau was in third in 17:51.25.
- Aaron Turgeon was second in the 100 free, in 48.22, just .16 seconds out of first place, and was second in the 100 IM in 56.30. 
Swimming & Diving Postgame 2.22.2022- Jeremy Bartley was second in the 50 backstroke in 25.93, a mere .32 seconds behind the winner.
- Bartley, Tyler Young, Turgeon, and Kimmel comprised the 400 free relay that was also second in 3:15.04.
- In the first ever men's LEC championship, Keene State finished second with 858 points, just behind winners Bridgewater State, which won the championship with 945 points.
