Records
- Keene State: 1-1
- Nichols: 0-3
How It Happened
Maccarini opened the scoring less than two minutes into the contest, juking through a scrum of defenders to give the Owls the lead. The Bison went in front for the first and only time courtesy of consecutive goals from CJ Caddigan,
Max Thurston tied the contest with an unassisted tally to tie the score by the end of the first quarter.
Thurston began the second as he started the first, spinning past the Nichols defense before beating Bison goalie Billy Heller. That was the first of five goals the Owls would score in the second stanza, blowing the game open.
Nathan Sickles netted a pair of markers, before
Andrew Miller finished a man-up situation and
Colby Quiet completed the scoring in the period as the Owls led 7-2 at halftime.
Quiet netted another to open the third period, but the Bison got back to within four goals on back-to-back markers by Hunter Ferriera. Keene State never let the Bison closer than that again, as Sickles,
Shane Molloy, and
Cooper Cioffi increased the lead to 11-5, and
Ben Wright's goal with 5:13 left in the game gave the Owls their biggest lead at 13-6.
Chase Chamberlin made 15 saves for KSC.
