Owls Fall Short to Lancers in Late Rally

WORCESTER, MASS. -- Junior Haile Ratajack led the scoring with four goals for the Keene State College women's lacrosse team in their 14-10 loss to Worcester State University on Thursday evening at Coughlin Field.

How It Happened 

The Lancers scored three straight goals in the opening minutes of the first quarter. Keene State got on the scoreboard with a goal in a man-up play by senior Brigid Casey. Casey then set up Ratajack for her first goal of the match for the Owls. The hosts netted three more goals in the first to extend the lead to 6-2. 

Worcester State continued their momentum, netting four goals in the second period. Ratajack scored a pair of goals within seven seconds to end the quarter with the Owls trailing 10-4. 

Senior Jackie DeAngelis scored the only goal for the Owls in the third quarter, as the Lancers led the quarter 3-1. 

The Owls put up a strong attack in the final quarter, while only allowing one goal from the Lancers. Senior Mackenzie MacGowan netted a pair of unassisted goals with 5:20 left in the game. Ratajack concluded her scoring with her fourth goal with under three minutes left. Keene State sophomore Hannah Dworkin scored a pair of goals, her first of the season, to help the Owls pull back to a four-goal deficit with the final score at 14-10.

  • Senior goalkeeper Haley Terva made 17 saves for Keene State.
