KEENE, N.H. -- Freshman Chase Gengras and junior Haile Ratajack each netted hat tricks but it was not enough to keep the Keene State College women's lacrosse from falling to an 18-8 defeat to Western Connecticut State University on Saturday afternoon at the Owl Athletic Complex.

How It Happened
The Owls were quick to net the first goal from Gengras three minutes into the game. Ratajack set up sophomore Hannah Dworkin but WSCU got on the scoreboard just seconds later with a pair of goals. Ratajack scored an unassisted goal to see a 3-2 lead, but it did not last long. Western Connecticut scored to tie the game 3-3 after the first quarter.
Mindy St. Marie set up Ratajack to put the Owls up 4-3 at the start of the second quarter. The Owls saw their lead fade when WCSU went on a run, scoring four straight. Dworkin attempted to keep the differential close with a goal set up by Jackie DeAngelis. The Owls trailed 7-5 after the first half.
WCSU pulled away in the second half, outscoring the Owls 11-3. Gengras scored the lone goal for Keene State in the third quarter with an assist from Dworkin. In the fourth quarter, Gengras and Ratajack netted a goal apiece to complete their hat tricks and conclude the scoring for the Owls. Keene State fell 18-8 to WCSU.
