Owls Celebrate Senior Night With 20-7 Victory Over Panthers

KEENE, N.H. -- Senior Joe Nutting made his senior night memorable, netting a career-high six goals and tallying two assists to lift the Keene State College men's lacrosse team 20-7 over Plymouth State University at the Owl Athletic Complex Friday evening to wrap up their regular season.

How It Happened 

Little East Men's Lacrosse Standings (2022 Regular Season)Connor Woods opened the scoring for the Owls just three minutes into the game followed by a goal from junior Nathan Sickles. Nutting blasted four straight goals past the Panthers to give the Owls a 6-0 lead after the first quarter. 

The Owls came out hot in the second quarter, netting six goals from six different players in five minutes. Senior Travis Hamilton netted a goal 24 seconds into the second quarter, followed by Giacomo Tedone and another tally from Woods. Nutting, Ben Wright, and Cooper Cioffi also tallied points before the Panthers got on the scoreboard with two goals. Cioffi and Sickles closed out the first half with another goal apiece to give the Owls a 14-2 lead after the first half. 

After the break, the Panthers scored first, but the Owls answered with four straight goals. Sickles netted two more goals in the third. Woods completed a hat trick and Nutting scored his sixth to put the Owls up 18-3. 

The Panthers outscored the Owls 4-2 in the final quarter. Freshmen Connor Brown and Tim Kelleher concluded the scoring for the Owls with a goal each. The Owls finished with a dominating 20-7 victory over the Panthers to close out their regular season. 

Inside the Crease 

- Nutting recorded a career-high eight points with six goals and tallying four assists. He has scored 14 goals in the last four games. 
- Sickles netted four goals and one assist for the Owls. He has 40 goals on the season. 
- The Owls lead the all-time series against the Panthers 25-4, with 25 straight wins. 
- Senior goalkeeper Chase Chamberlin made seven stops for the Owls.
