Casey, Ratajack Lead Owls in Dominating Win Over Cougars

WORCESTER, MASS. -- Senior Brigid Casey and junior Haile Ratajack netted five goals apiece to lead the Keene State College women's lacrosse team to a convincing victory over Clark University Wednesday night at Granger Field.

How It Happened 

Casey opened up the scoring early in the game for the Owls with a set up by junior Jackie DeAngelis. Ratajack netted her first goal of the game with an assist from Mindy St. Marie. The Cougars netted back-to-back goals, but Casey and sophomore Hannah Dworkin answered with a goal each. Ratajack set up Casey with just over one minute remaining to give the Owls the lead for good. Keene State led 5-4 after the first quarter. 

The Owls continued to pull away, outscoring the Cougars 4-1 in the second quarter. Casey assisted Ratajack and then netted a pair of goals for the Owls. DeAngelis took advantage in a man up play, tallying her second goal of the game as Keene State led 9-5 after the first half. 

The Cougars scored the first goal of the second half, but the Owls answered with a pair of goals from Ratajack and a goal apiece from St. Marie and DeAngelis. Clark found their way past Keene State goalkeeper Haley Terva with less than five minutes remaining. Ratajack completed a hat trick in just the third period to lead the Owls 14-7. 

Senior MacKenzie MacGowan found the back of the net less than two minutes into the start of the final quarter. Keene State Dworkin and St. Marie netted their second goals of the game to maintain the commanding lead. The Cougars tallied one goal in the period. MacGowan concluded the scoring for the Owls in the 18-8 victory. 

Inside the Crease 

  • DeAngelis, St. Marie, MacGowan, and Dworkin each netted two goals for the Owls. 
  • Casey registered five goals and one assist for Keene State, recording 117 career goals. 
  • Ratajack scored five goals and dished out two assists. She has netted 24 goals this season. 
  • Terva made 10 saves between the posts for the Owls. 
  • The Owls outshot the Cougars 38-24.
