NORTH SUTTON, N.H.--Freshman Cade Williams carded a team best +12 as the Keene State College men's golf team played the first round in program history at the New England College Invitational at Kearsarge Valley Golf Course.

• Williams was two over at the turn, scoring a birdie at No. 6 as well as four pars.   He added three more pars on the back nine to complete the round.
• Classmate Colin O'Brien shot a +16, with seven pars, while another freshman Caden Capaldo, was +17, making par six times, including his final three holes.
• Sean McCaffrey was fourth on the team with a +21 round, including consecutive birdies on No. 13 and No. 14, and Zackary Gamble rounded out the group, shooting +29, with a birdie on No. 8.
• Keene State shot 354 as a team; the University of Southern Maine won the three team event with a team score of 313, while the host New England College shot 336.  Brogan Kane of USM was the individual medalist, shooting a +2 74.
• Keene State will return to the links at the Brett Williamson Invitational, hosted by Westfield State University at Tekoa Country Club on September 22.
