MIDDLEBURY, Vt. - Keene State College first year
Molly Lu McKellar finished third out of nine competitors in the pentathlon at the Middlebury Winter Classic which began Friday at the Virtue Field House.
The Hebron, N.H. native was the lone Owl to make the trek north, and had a strong showing, finishing with 2,417 points. She competed the 60 meter hurdles in 10.64, recorded a 1.32 meter high jump, a 9.57 meter shot put, and a 4.23 meter long jump before running the 800 meters in 2:48.94.
Emily Rubio, a freshman of the host Panthers, won the event with 3,440 points. Junior Trintje Nydam of Amherst College was second with 2,882.
All of the top three scores were New England Division III championship qualifying marks, which take place February 24 and 25 in Boston.
The Owls travel to Plymouth State University for the Panther Invitational tomorrow (Saturday, January 21).
