How It Happened

The Huskies never trailed in this one, rolling out to a 10-4 lead on a layup by Ashlee Aceto at the 5:47 mark of the first quarter.

Keene State pulled within 19-11 as Samantha Lee converted and drew the foul, and though she missed the free throw opportunity, grabbed her own offensive rebound and found Grace Furze, who kicked it to Kenzie Durnford for a three that trimmed the lead to seven.    The Owls would not score again in the quarter as the Huskies ended the period with Tamrah Gould's buzzer beating jumper.

The Owls opened the second quarter on a 8-2 run powered by Lee's offensive rebound and stickback, but the Huskies responded with an 18-3 run to take a 43-22 lead into halftime as the Owls missed four shots and committed seven turnovers during that stretch.

USM maintained their lead throughout the third quarter and into the fourth period, before the Owls found their footing, cutting a 17 point lead down to 11 on a basket from Rylee Burgess with 2:35 left.   Any hopes of a comeback were dashed in the final minutes, as Keene State missed two shots and turned it over three times even as the Huskies scored just one point in the final 2:35.

Kenzie Durnford led all players with 15 points and eight rebounds with a pair of steals.  Burgess notched her second double-double of the year with 10 points and 10 rebounds.
