How It Happened

UMass-Boston came away with an early scoring chance in the contest after Sarah Kelly, who has already tallied once this season, took a shot on Keene State's starting goalkeeper
Sonia Moritz, though Moritz was up to the task, turning away the opportunity for UMass-Boston, keeping the score level. Moritz and the Owls defense shut down the Beacons high-powered offense, who came into the game with 24 goals this season through 12 games, averaging two goals per game. UMass-Boston would grab another shot on goal in the 15th minute when Andrea Rivera, a four-goal scorer this season for the Beacons, took a chance on Moritz, though Moritz would again come away with the save for the Owls.
Emily O'Connell would come away with Keene State's first shot on goal in the 38
th minute, though UMass-Boston goalkeeper Julia Cote made the save on O'Connell, keeping Keene State off the scoreboard. The shot from O'Connell would force an ensuing corner kick for the Owls.
Alexa Skinner, who was the last Owl to score against UMass-Boston in the regular season in 2022, inserted the corner kick that landed to the food of Elizbaeth Tschudin, who had the shot blocked, keeping Keene State at bay and holding the Owls off the scoreboard in their best chance of the half. Neither team would come across with goals in the first half, as Keene State would outshoot UMass-Boston 3-2 in the opening frame.
Sonia Moritz made two saves for the Owls in the opening 45 minutes.
The Beacons came away with an early chance at goal after a corner kick would result in a shot that struck the post by Andrea Rivera as Keene State escaped danger.
Alexa Skinner would march down the field in the 47th minute and would nearly put the Owls ahead, sailing a shot just wide of the net, keeping KSC off the scoreboard. Through the midway point of the second half, Keene State would get their best chances at goal, though two shots, one from
Kathleen Mullin and the other from
Elizabeth Tschudin, would both be off target as the Owls would not be able to find the back of the net.
Down the stretch, both UMass-Boston and Keene State would exchange chances at goal.
Elizabeth Tschudin would be all over the ball for the Owls in the contest, coming away with a shot that would be saved by UMass-Boston's Bella Luca, as Tschudin nearly got the Owls on the board in the 78
th minute.
Sonia Moritz would record one save in the second half, an important save for the Owls, holding Andrea Rivera and the Beacons to no goals on the afternoon. Keene State would take one final shot on goal in the 85
th minute, but it would be denied as the Owls and Beacons would draw 0-0 in the Little East Conference matchup.
