HOPKINTON, N.H.--Senior
Maggie St. John's spectacular season appears set to continue, as the Keene State College cross country teams competed at the NCAA Division III East Regional Championships at the Hopkinton Fairgrounds.
Women's Highlights
St. John was 14th overall in 22:24.60 to earn All-Region honors, putting her in position to receive a place at the NCAA Division III Championships. Formal qualification will be announced on Sunday.
Keene State also got strong performances from
Sarah Ames (63rd, 23:46.57),
Anna O'Reilly (77th, 24:04.50), Auora Couto (86th, 24:24.23),
Alyssa Edgren (133rd, 26:30.33),
Alana Perry (136th, 26:38.35), and
Sara Christian (146th, 27:03.11).
MIT won the team event with five runners in the top 10 to automatically qualify for the NCAA Division III Championships. Grace Hadley of WPI was the individual winner in 20:48.86.
The full NCAA championship is set for Saturday, November 18, at Big Spring High School in Newville, Pa., hosted by Dickinson College. Keene State has not had a female qualifier for the NCAA Championship since 2015, when the Owls qualified as a team. Kait Wheeler, Samantha Goldsmith, Carli Davis, Lindsay Szuch, Molly Schaefer, Katelyn Terry, and Cara Colotti were the Owl racers that day at Lake Breeze Golf Course in Winnecone, Wis.
Men's Highlights
Griffin Urnezis paced the Owl men with a 73rd place finish in 26:45.77. Next up was
Marty Nelligan (83rd, 27:02.48),
Tyler Bolaske (84th, 27:06.38),
Ben Harley (139th, 28:52.90),
Nathan Giordano (148th, 29:01.95), and
Tyler Robinson (174th, 30:33.06).
MIT won the team event with the top three runners, including individual medalist Sam Acquaviva in 24:36.21.
