INDIANAPOLIS—It's official - Maggie St. John will race one more time for the Keene State College women's cross country team. The senior standout found out on Sunday that she was one of the individuals chosen for the 2023 NCAA Division III Championships, set for Saturday, November 18.
St. John earned the appearance based on her 14th place finish at the NCAA East Regional on Saturday at the Hopkinton State Fairgrounds. She covered the 6K course in 22:24.60, earning All-Region honors.
Qualification is another feather in the cap for St. John, who has led Keene State to back-to-back Little East Conference Championships in 2022 and 2023, finishing second in both races to earn All-Conference honors. She also earned All-Region honors in 2022, finishing 33rd overall at the NCAA East Regional meet at Bowdoin College.
The full NCAA championship is set for Saturday, November 18, at Big Spring High School in Newville, Pa., hosted by Dickinson College. The race will begin at noon ET.
Keene State has not had a female qualifier for the NCAA Championship since 2015, when the Owls qualified as a team. Kait Wheeler, Samantha Goldsmith, Carli Davis, Lindsay Szuch, Molly Schaefer, Katelyn Terry, and Cara Colotti were the Owl racers that day at Lake Breeze Golf Course in Winnecone, Wis.
A top-40 finish will see St. John earn All-America honors; Keene State has not had an All-American in cross country since former KSC head coach Paige Mills did so in 2010 and 2011.
