KEENE, N.H.—The Keene State College men's basketball team is atop the second set of regional rankings that were released today by the NCAA Regional Advisory Committee for Region II.
The Owls (22-1, 14-0 LEC) are listed first, followed by WPI (19-3, 11-1 NEWMAC), Nichols (18-5, 14-2 CCC), Western New England (18-5, 13-3 CCC), Western Connecticut State (21-2, 12-2 LEC), and Emerson (14-9, 9-3 NEWMAC).
The six teams in this poll are ranked and include results against other regionally ranked teams. Keene State is 3-1 against such opposition, which includes a pair of wins over Western Connecticut and a win over Emerson, as well as a loss to Middlebury.
This week's ranking reflects one change from the initial ranking, with Emerson taking the place of Babson College. Region II is comprised of teams from the Little East Conference, the Commonwealth Coast Conference, the New England Women's and Men's Athletic Conference, the New England College Conference, and the University Athletic Association's Brandeis University.
Regional rankings are separate from national polls and are used to advise the NCAA Division III Men's Basketball Championship Committee when determining at-large berths to the NCAA tournament, as well as potential hosting opportunities.
The Owls finish out the regular season this week, beginning with a visit to Castleton University on February 15 at 7:30 p.m. The regular season concludes on February 18 with a Senior Day matchup against the University of Massachusetts-Boston at 3:00 p.m.
