How it Happened
The Brewers of Vassar attacked the net early and often, outshooting the Owls 16-7 in the first quarter. But Keene State kept up with the pace. Down 1-0 at the 6:54 mark in the period, Woods got a pass from senior midfielder Michael Sheridan in transition near the restraining line and fired in his fourth goal of the season. Vassar would score 43 seconds later to go ahead 2-1, but junior attacker Andrew Miller responded less than a minute later at 5:16 with his fifth goal of the season, tying the game at two.

Then, trailing 3-2, Cioffi put together a spectacular effort to give the Owls the lead near the end of the frame. The St. Albans, Vt., native first scored at 1:58 to tie the game at three with help from an assist by sophomore midfielder Ben Tukey. Junior midfielder Colby Quiet won the ensuing faceoff and sprinted into the restraining box before dumping the ball off to Miller. Miller then sent the ball near the net to Cioffi, who scored his fifth goal of the season at 1:49.

Vassar finished the first quarter with two late goals, and then started the second with six more to go up 11-4. Keene State's only two goals in the quarter came within the last 22 seconds. Sickles got the Owls back on the board with his team a man up after Woods set him up with a pass from behind the net toward outside the restraining line. Woods then would get his second goal of the game 12 seconds later after Cioffi set him up with a pass near the front of the net. Keene State entered halftime trailing 11-6.

After giving up two goals to start the third quarter, Keene State would get a tally back thanks to freshman midfielder Sebastian Foresi scoring his first collegiate goal. At 7:26, the Southington, Conn., native sprinted into the restraining box and fired a shot into the bottom-half of the net. The goal would make it 13-7 Vassar heading into the fourth quarter.

Sickles and sophomore midfielder Jeff Wiedenfeld each scored an unassisted goal in the fourth quarter, while Vassar added two more goals to secure its second straight victory. Senior attacker Riley Olds and junior attacker Ian Zumpano led the Brewers with four goals each, while junior attacker Troy Santise and freshman attacker/midfielder Baker Morton each scored twice.
