How it Happened
In a battle of the owls, Keene State had a competitive start. Despite going down 2-0 early in the first quarter, KSC answered back with two unanswered of their own. The first goal came courtesy of Brown at 8:07, when the Londonderry, N.H., native found her way into the crease before sneaking her shot past sophomore goalkeeper Sydney Smith. Nearly two minutes later at 6:14, senior midfielder
Mindy St. Marie returned to the scoresheet after she spun around a defender and shot the ball into the goal. After giving up three straight goals, Keene State would get a goal by DeAngelis with 58 seconds remaining. After a late goal by Westfield State, KSC would head into the second quarter trailing 6-3.
But for the second straight game, Keene State would get shut out in the second quarter. Westfield State would take advantage of its impenetrable defense by scoring five goals in the frame. The highlight of the quarter came from senior attacker Cassidy Harvey, who scored her 100th collegiate goal on a free position shot to make it 8-3 Westfield State. It was one of five goals she scored throughout the day.
Keene State would give up two more goals early in the third quarter before DeAngelis scored her second goal of the game at 9:36. The tally came as a result of her cutting in front of the crease form the side of the net and scoring. Brown scored her second goal of the day at the 2:04 mark of the quarter after she caused a turnover and collected a ground ball on the other end of the field.
In the fourth quarter, St. Marie scored at 12:17 when she ran straight at the net and fired in her second goal of the day. Lastly, sophomore attacker
Chase Gengras scored her first goal of the season at 8:02, with an assist from junior attacker
