KEENE, N.H.--Four of the five Keene State golfers broke 90 as the men's golf team defeated New England College and Elms College at the Keene Country Club on Sunday.
Freshman
Caden Capaldo and senior Zack Gamble both shot a 75, while
Cade Williams shot an 85 and
Sean McCaffrey an 86.
Colin O'Brien completed the KSC scoring with a 92.
"Sunday was a classic example how an individual sport like golf can be a true team sport," said Keene State head coach Jeff Timmer. "You never know how your team is doing so each person needs to keep playing to the finish. If Cade doesn't birdie 18, or if Sean doesn't finish well, or if Caden gets discouraged after a bad hole, then Zack's amazing round doesn't get us a team win. And although Colin didn't score today he has been the ultimate grinder all year, playing to the finish of every round. I am proud of the team and I am very happy for Zack in his final competitive round. It's been a very productive first year for the golf program and things are just going to get better."
As a team, the Owls finished one stroke ahead of New England College (321-322). Elms College finished with a 346 as a team.
