Highlights
How It Happened
The Owls broke through in the 31st minute, as captain
Declan Coughlin sent in a corner, and sophomore
Elias Stowell-Aleman backheeled a corner in the air past the dive of goalie Dylan Pallanck. Eastern leveled it up just before halftime, as the Owls were whistled for a handball in the box, and Walter Scudder stepped up to send KSC goalie
Regan Racicot the wrong way.
16 minutes into the second half, the Owls went in front for good. The Warriors were penalized for a foul at the top of the box, and Sinopoli's superb free kick gave Pallanck no chance into the upper left corner. The Warriors could not muster much of a response, with Noah Pages' effort getting blocked in the final minutes.
"I'm really pleased with the team on this win," said Keene State head coach
Matt Schmidt. "That is a quality result on the road. Today's focus was on 'we' not 'me' and being winners in key moments. The team is really focused on teamwork and if they keep doing that and making progress, we will be a tough team to beat."
"We are starting to do the things it takes to win more consistently; playing our style of possession and winning 50/50 battles, being more aggressive and switched during set pieces, both attacking and defensively. We scored both goals on set pieces today."
Keene State outshot the Warriors 15-9; Racicot made four saves in the KSC net.
