WARWICK, R.I. – Sophomore
Sean Cullen shot an 81 in his first-ever collegiate meet as the Keene State College men's golf team nipped Rhode Island College by four strokes in the RIC Fall Classic Wednesday afternoon at the Valley Country Club.
Also a member of the men's basketball team, Cullen finished only one shot from tying the individual medalist, Jasper Bruins Slot, who shot an 80 for the Anchormen, and two strokes better than his brother Kyle, who shot an 83 for Rhode Island College.
Keene State also received an 84 from freshman
Sean Bonneau, an 87 from classmate Matt Bryant, and an 88 from sophomore
Caden Capaldo.
"I'm glad we were able to pull out a victory today," said Owls head coach Jeff Timmer. "Hopefully it is the start of building momentum heading into the LEC championship next week."
The LEC championship – the second one KSC has ever participated in – will be hosted by the University of Southern Maine at the Riverside Golf Course in Portland.
The Owls are back in action this Friday, when they tee off at 10:00 a.m. at the Keene State Invitational hosted by the Keene Country Club.
