SMITHFIELD, R.I. – In a meet featuring mostly Division I and II athletes from the New England region,
Savannah Soleau and
Kyle Maruca each finished fourth in the shot put on Wednesday at the Conaty Indoor Athletic Center on the campus of Bryant University.
Both were New England Division III Championship qualifying marks, though Soleau had previously achieved a qualifying mark this past weekend at the University of Southern Maine. Today, she finished fourth of 18 in the shot put, throwing 11.76 meters, just .04 meters from the third place finisher from Merrimack College. She was also seventh out of 14 competitors in the discus at 31.35 meters.
Kyle Maruca became the fifth Owl to qualify for the New England Division III championships thus far this season, finishing fourth out of 34 competitors in the men's shot put with a 13.49 meter mark, .20 from his personal college best. He was also seventh in the discus at 37.46 meters.

Maggie St. John (5,000 meters), and
Eden Damis (triple jump) as New England Division III qualifiers thus far this season.
The Owls travel to Plymouth State University for the Panther Invitational on Saturday, January 20 at 11:00 a.m.
