How It Happened
Endicott College opened the scoring. nearly six minutes into the contest, as Manny Marshall scored the first goal of the season for the Gulls with 9:07 left in the quarter. The first goal for KSC on the season came with 3:12 left in the quarter, as a turnover caused by Chris Adriaansen on defense, led to Andrew Miller knotting the game up at one apiece for the Owls. KSC took the lead just 14 seconds later, as Colby Quiet send a pass over to Jeff Wiedenfield for the Owl goal. Neither team scored the rest of the quarter, as KSC took their 2-1 lead into the second quarter.

The second quarter would be all Endicott, as they had their highest scoring quarter of the game, scoring five goals, all being in a row, in the quarter. Wiedenfield opened the scoring in the second quarter, this time with the assist coming from Giacomo Tedone, three minutes into the quarter. After Wiedenfield's goal, the Gulls responded back with five goals of their own, across the next five and a half minutes. Guerin Favreau assisted Tommy Tyksinski on the Gulls first goal, followed by Tyksinski assisting Nick Pagluiso for the tying goal coming with 9:08 left in the half. The next three goals for the Gulls came from Cam Fernandez (from Nick Graap), Ethan Cupples, and Jack Fiorillo, in order, giving EC the 6-3 lead with 6:36 left in the second quarter. KSC scored the final goal in the opening half, as Rex Maccarini assisted on the man-up goal to Jack Ansart, bringing the Owls to within a pair with 53 seconds left before halftime. The score would hold the remainder of the half as EC led KSC 6-4 after the first 30 minutes of play.

After nearly five scoreless minutes to start the second half, Colt Green opened the scoring in the third quarter, netting a goal for the Gulls and putting them up 7-4. After Charlie Giuliotti made a save in net for the Owls a minute later, Tedone netted his first goal of the game shortly after on the other side of the field, coming from Dylan Seymour and bringing the Owls to back within a pair of goals. Both teams traded goals over the next two minutes, with Favreau scoring for the Gulls and Miller scoring another goal for KSC shortly after, this time coming from Ansart with 4:26 left in the third. Through the remainder of the quarter, EC started to pull away, scoring a pair of goals, as Favreau and Green each scored again, giving EC a 10-6 lead heading into the final quarter.

Both teams traded goals to start the fourth quarter, with the Gulls' man-up goal coming from Nick Graap, and the Owls' goal coming from Tedone assisting Ansart, just 32 seconds later. Unfortunately for the Owls, Ansart's goal would be the last for the Owls, as the final three goals in the quarter all came from the Gulls, with Graap scoring a pair and Favreau scoring another, giving EC the 14-7 win over the Owls to open the 2024 season.
