KEENE, N.H. – The Keene State College men's soccer team kicked off their Little East Conference play on Saturday afternoon at Dr. Ron Butcher Field as they hosted the Wolves from Western Connecticut State University and looked to get revenge after WCSU eliminated the Owls in the 2023 LEC tournament back in November. After KSC took a 1-0 lead heading into the half, WCSU scored a pair of goals in the second half and took down KSC 2-1.

Postgame Interview (Coach Schmidt)
How it Happened
WCSU pestered the Owls' defense early, as the Wolves mustered off six shots, to just one from the Owls, although the Owls' goalkeeper,
Regan Racicot, saved the three shots that reached the net in the opening 18 minutes of play. The Owls got on the board first with their first shot on goal, as
Giacomo Sinopoli assisted
Luke Belisle for his first career collegiate goal to put KSC up 1-0, 25:51 into the contest. During the remainder of the half, each team got a pair of shots off, as Racicot saved the first attempt from WCSU and the other shot was blocked by the Owls' defense. The final two shots from KSC in the first half came from
Martin Lubunga, but was saved by Wolves' goalkeeper, Zachary Benson, and
Caleb Harmon's shot went wide of the net, to cement KSC's 1-0 lead heading into the half.
1:26 into the second half, the Wolves evened the contest up at one apiece, as Belisle was called for an extremely questionable foul call in the Owls' box and the Wolves were awarded a penalty kick, which Kadin Tahlo converted for WCSU. After the first goal for the Wolves, they continued to hunt for another, as they took 10 shots over the next 30 minutes of the contest, and held KSC to no shots over the same time span. Only three of the 10 shots reached the goal, of which Racicot saved a pair, but the tenth shot was fired past him, as the Wolves' passing through the Owls' defense led to Jeffery Norales putting WCSU up 2-1 with 14:24 left to play. The rest of the way, the Owls were unable to get a shot off, as the Wolves' defense locked them as five yellow cards were handed out in the final 14 minutes of play and WCSU won the chippy contest, 2-1, in the end.
