FRAMINGHAM, Mass. – For the second game in a row,
Elizabeth Tschudin would score the lone goal of the contest for the Keene State College women's soccer team as this time, it was the only goal of the game as the Owls defeated Framingham State University 1-0 on Wednesday night.
Records
- Keene State: 3-4-5 (0-0-3 LEC)
- Framingham State: 3-5-2 (2-2 MASCAC)
How it Happened
KSC was on the attack for most of the opening 22 minutes of the first half, but the Rams' goalkeeper, Savannah Goba, saved both of the Owls' shots on goal early in the contest. Over the next 10 minutes of action, FSU recorded a pair of shots on target themselves, but
Riley Andriski, the Owls' starting goalkeeper, made her first two saves of eight on the day. The rest of the opening half, the Owls were back on the attack, but they were unable to convert on their five shot attempts, as Tschudin attempted three shots with one being on goal, which Goba saved to send the game into the half tied 0-0.
FSU tried to take the lead in the beginning of the second half, but Andriski and the Owls' defense shut the Rams down with a blocked shot to go with three saves from Andriski over an eight-minute span. In the 57th minute, KSC pulled ahead after
Elise Saab stole possession from the Rams at midfield and sent a pass out deep ahead into the Rams' defensive half. After FSU was unable to clear due to pressure from
Keely Giordano, she crossed the ball to Tschudin for the go-ahead one timer goal less than a minute after subbing onto the field after opening the second half on the bench for rest. Giordano tried to tack on a goal herself shortly after, but Goba bounced back by saving Giordano's shot to prevent KSC from taking a two-goal lead. Over the next 10 minutes FSU tried to draw even, but Andriski held her ground and made a pair of saves as the contest headed into the final 10 minutes still up a goal. Andriski and the Owls were able to hold off the Rams' late push as Andriski made another save in the final two minutes to preserve the Owls' 1-0 win.
"It was a good overdue win on the road," said Owls' head coach Sarah Testo. "It was nice to see the team find a way to get a win."
