PLYMOUTH, N.H. –
Elizabeth Tschudin's streak continued for the Keene State College women's soccer team as she tallied another goal and assist, contributing to both of the Owls' goals in their 2-1 win on the road at Plymouth State University on Wednesday afternoon.
Records
- Keene State: 7-4-6 (2-0-4 LEC)
- Plymouth State: 6-10-0 (0-6-0 LEC)
How it Happened
KSC was on the attack early and often in the opening half as the Owls outshot PSU 10-2. Over the first 20 minutes, KSC recorded three shots on target, but the Panthers' starting goalkeeper, Sydney Rowe, saves two of the shots to go with a defensive save to keep the Owls off the board early in the contest. Both goalkeepers added another save over the next 10 minutes as Rowe prevented
Allison Kenyon from scoring for the Owls and
Riley Andriski made her first save of the day in goal for KSC. The rest of the opening half, KSC saw only one more shot reach the target, but the first collegiate career shot from
Mariella Tsitsonis was saved by Rowe and the game went into the half scoreless at 0-0.
Neither team was able to find the back of the net in the second half over the first 20 minutes of the half as Rowe made three more saves, while Andriski made another one to keep the contest scoreless heading into the 65th minute. After finally getting their footing and adjusting to the turf after a last-minute change moved the game to the turf field, the Owls were able to find the back of the net in the 69th minute.
Emily O'Connell picked up assist number three on the season as she sent a corner kick into the Panthers' box where Tschudin headed her fourth goal in the past three games to put KSC up 1-0. Rowe bounced back and saved the next two shots from the Owls, but she was unable to secure the rebound on the second one in the 74th minute, where Tschudin added another point as her rebound fell right to
Mikayla Ryan who scored a goal for the second game in a row to put the Owls up 2-0 with 16:43 remaining. With under seven minutes remaining Rowe made a save to deny Giordano from scoring in her second consecutive game, but with 2:15 remaining, PSU was able to pull within a goal as the ball was loose in the Owls box and Clara Wilson sent a shot into the back of the net. The Owls' defense was able to hold off the Panthers late push in the closing seconds as KSC came away with the 2-1 win over PSU.
"It was a good win on the road. Plymouth is always tough and plays hard against us," said Owls' head coach Sarah Testo. "We played much better second half after adjusting to the surface."
"Liz has been great proving she is one of the best players in the conference," Testo said on Tschudin's dominance for the Owls on her breakout season. She has now tallied a goal in five of the last seven games for KSC, which is a large part of the Owls going 5-0-2 over the span.
