How it Happened
After the Owls started on the attack with three shots on goal that Ericah Folden had to save for the Polar Bears, Bowdoin responded with three shots of their own that
Ai Chung saved for KSC before Anyi Sun scored her first goal of the season to put Bowdoin up 1-0 6:06 into the contest. The Polar Bear's lead only lasted for 3:03 as Chung made three more saves that eventually led to
Ellie Patrick tying the contest up at one apiece. The rest of the opening period neither team found the back of the net as KSC did not record another shot on goal and Chung made eight more saves in goal to keep the contest tied 1-1 heading into the first intermission.
Bowdoin had their first of two power play opportunities in the game 2:46 into the second period, but it did not amount to anything as the two shots over the two minutes did not reach the goal as one went wide and Patrick blocked the other to kill the penalty off for the Owls. KSC was on the attack for a four-minute span in the middle of the period, but following Chung's fifth save of the period, with under seven minutes remaining in the second, Maddie Wojciak scored with 5:27 remaining in the period to put Bowdoin up 2-1. Chung tacked on one more save the rest of the second as the Polar Bears took their 2-1 lead into the final period.
Bowdoin came out of the second intermission and dominated from start to finish by adding on three more goals, while holding the Owls without a shot on goal over the final period. Luna Lu scored the third goal of the day for Bowdoin 6:40 into the period after saving the first five shots of the period. After Chung made six more saves, Bowdoin had their second power play opportunity of the day, and it only took 12 seconds to capitalize on it with a power play goal form Wojciak with 7:40 remaining. With under two minutes remaining in the contest, Meghan Britt scored the final goal for the Polar Bears to make the final score 5-1 in favor of Bowdoin.
