How it Happened
The Colonels were on the attack early, but
Ai Chung held her ground in net for KSC as she made three saves in the opening five minutes of play. On the other end of the ice, Curry's netminder, Vivi Helquist also held her own in the opening eight minutes of the game as she made three saves over the timespan. 8:55 into the contest, Curry had their first penalty of the game, but Chung made three saves in net to kill off the penalty for the Owls after the two minutes. After Chung made another pair of saves over the next few minutes, she had to make three more during a KSC penalty that the Owls killed off with 2:15 remaining in the period. As the game looked like it would go into the second period scoreless,
Emma Wiseman sent a shot from the point and
Ava Iantosca once again deflected the shot into the back of the net to put KSC up a goal heading into the second period.
After the Colonels tied the game up at one, 7:33 into the period, KSC retook the lead with a power play goal from
Ellie Patrick at the 13:49 mark. The Owls' lead did not last long as Curry tied it back up, not even too minutes later, as Bella Mardescich tied the game. With 2:41 remaining in the period, Curry took the lead for the first time on Mardescich's second goal.
In the third, it was all Curry, as they recorded 10 shots on goal in the final period, four of which found the back of the net, for a 7-2 victory over KSC.
