KEENE, N.H. – Keene State College senior star
Octavio Brito is once again an All-American, as confirmed by the National Association of Basketball Coaches when the agency released their selections earlier Wednesday.
It is the third consecutive year the Lincoln, R.I. native was named an All-American – and with it he made Owl history, becoming the first three-time selection in program history. He was named NABC Third Team All-America (and third team D3hoops.com) in 2023 and to the NABC Second Team a season ago (third team D3hoops.com). This year, after moving up the ranks to the second-highest scorer in KSC program history while shooting 52 percent from the field and 38 percent from three, he was a First Team selection for the first time in his illustrious career that saw the Owls go 98-19 and win four straight Little East Conference tournament championships while advancing to the Sweet 16 twice.
There have been six All-Americans in Keene State men's basketball history, with Brito's former teammate
Jeff Hunter a two-time All-American in 2022-2023 and 2023-2024. Ty Nichols was a First Team D3hoops.com All-American in 2018-2019 and a Second Team NABC pick that season, while Chris Coates (First Team NABC in 2000-2001), Dave Stantial (Second Team NABC in 2001-2002), and Tyler Kathan (Third Team D3hoops.com in 2008-2009) also receiving the honor.
Brito finished with 2,206 career points and averaged 22 per game to go along with 8.9 rebounds per contest this season.
He is the sixth First Team All-American in program history.
The selections announced by the NABC are voted on by NABC-member coaches across NCAA Division III.
