BOSTON, Mass. – Following a great performance the previous weekend at the Little East Conference Championships, select Owls that qualified, traveled to The TRACK at New Balance on Friday and Saturday for the 2025 New England Division III Indoor Track & Field Championships.
On the men's side, the Owls saw two top-ten finishes across the two days of action. A week after setting the Little East Conference Championship meet time of 15:06.46 in the 5,000 m, KSC fifth year
Jake Velazquez ran the event even faster over the weekend as he placed ninth with a new personal-best mark of 14:54.03. The Owls' distance medley relay group composed of
Tyler Bolaske,
Sean Von Ranson, Nicholas Terranova, and
Griffin Urnezis also placed top-ten on the day as the group placed seventh in the event with a time of 10:24.69 earning KSC two points towards their team total. In the other two relays, 4x800 relay was composed of three of the four from the DMR, with
Jonathan MacQuarrie running instead of Von Ranson, the relay finished in 8:05.50 for 13th place in the event, while the 4x400 composed of Von Ranson,
Kyle Thomas,
Jonathan DeAguiar, and
Keith O'Donnell, finished in 16th with a time of 3:26.18. The remaining individual track events saw Thomas finish 14th in the 200 m dash with a personal-best time of 22.04,
Aidan Law finishing 23rd in the 60 m dash with a time of 7.09, while O'Donnell placed 22nd in the 600 m by improving on her personal-best time by over two seconds with a mark of 1:23.69.
In the field events on the men's side,
Jayden Baker finished in 13th in the shot put with a mark of 14.06m on his final throw. Caden Latuillipe's mark of 4.29m in the pole vault was just narrowly behind his school record of 4.30m he set earlier in the season as he placed 18th over the weekend, while Law finished 14th in the long jump with a mark of 6.54 to round out the men's side.
Molly Lu McKellar highlighted the women's side for the Owls on the weekend by finishing sixth in the pentathlon with 3,194 points across her five events. McKellar's best events in the pentathlon came in the shot put as she finished first by beating her personal best mark by .32m with a first-place mark of 12.05m, along with a third-place finish in the 60m hurdles in 9.33. McKellar was also part of the Owls 4x400 relay group alongside
Bryn Dickinson,
Erin Cole, and
Keely Giordano that placed 17th with a time of 4:16.21. Dickinson and Giordano were also part of the 4x200, along with
Drea Defreitas and
Caroline Cooper for a 22nd place finish in 1:51.11. The other two relays, the 4x800 (composed of two freshmen,
Ava Fortin, and
Rita Cummings, and two seniors,
Sara Christian, and
Autumn Boisvert) placed 19th in 10:41.35, while the Owls DMR finished in 11th place as
Anna O'Reilly, Cole, Dickinson, and
Sarah Ames ran the event in 12:58.40. In the rest of the individual events on the track side, Ames placed 10th in the mile with a time of 5:09.44, beating her personal-best mark by over six seconds, while Giordano placed 17th in the 60m dash with a mark of 8.01, and St. John finished 21st in the 5,000 with a time of 18:53.41. Defreitas competed in two field events over the weekend as she placed 17th in the long jump with a distance of 4.9m and 24th in the triple jump with a mark of 10.34m.
The Owls return to action with the NEICAAA Championships on Friday, March 7, and at the Tufts National Qualifying Meet on Saturday, March 8.
