How it Happened
Each team tallied a goal in the opening five minutes of the contest as Seth Libby scored first for UMB first and Rex Maccarini answered back for KSC shortly after to tie the game up at one. Over the next three minutes the teams once again traded a goal back-and-forth. Connor Woods assisted fellow KSC senior Giacomo Tedone on a goal and 43 seconds later Matt Hutchings drew back even for UMB. With two minutes remaining UMB retook the lead but 36 seconds later, KSC tied the game back up at three as Maccarini assisted Jack Ansart to tie the game at three heading into the second quarter.

Only two goals were scored across the second quarter as each team scored one apiece. Neither team scored until there was 5:01 remaining in the half as Tim Souza fired a goal into the back of the net to put KSC ahead by a goal. Late in the half after KSC nearly forced a turnover, UMB sent a prayer to the front of the crease and Jack Schartner scored with just four seconds left as the two teams headed into the second half tied 4-4.

UMB scored two goals in a row in the third quarter with the first coming 21 seconds into the quarter and following six saves in a row from KSC's goalkeeper, Dylan Florian, they scored again with 3:18 remaining in the third to take a 6-4 lead. Jake Dubiel scored for KSC shortly after with 1:43 remaining, but after UMB won the ensuing faceoff, Matt Hutchings put the Owls back up a pair, seven seconds after Dubiel's goal. With 40 seconds remaining in the quarter, Jaheim Lancaster assisted Ansart's goal to pull KSC within a goal heading into the final 15 minutes of regulation.

UMB scored three goals in a row to open the final quarter of action over 7:09 of play in the fourth. After Florian made three more saves to bring his quarter total to five so far, Maccarini Tedone on another goal to bring KSC with 2:22 remaining. KSC tacked on one more goal following UMB calling a timeout and coming out and setting up offsides leading to Tedone assisting Ansart to pull within a pair with just over a minute left. Unfortunately for the Owls, their comeback fell short in the end as they were defeated 10-8 by the Beacons.
