How it Happened
KSC's attack was going early in the first half as the Owls possessed the ball in the Corsairs' defensive zone for most of the opening 15 minutes. In the 16th minute, Allison Kenyon recorded the first shot on goal of the game, but UMD's goalkeeper Marina Cassano, saved her shot attempt from outside the box. Kenyon made the most of her next opportunity a minute later as Kylie Rapoza led Emily O'Connell with a pass into the Corsairs' zone, who then sent the ball off the outside of her right foot ahead of Kenyon towards the box. Kenyon was able to blow past the Corsair defenders and fire a shot past Cassano to put KSC ahead 16:16 into the contest for her first score of her junior season. Bryn Dickinson tried to add another goal for KSC two minutes later, but Cassano bounced back from the allowed goal to save Dickinson's shot. UMD tried to respond quickly to tie the game up but the Owls' goalkeeper and reigning Little East Conference goalkeeper of the week, Riley Andriski, made the save in the 19th minute. KSC continued to apply the pressure the rest of the opening half but of their four shots on target only one was on goal that Cassano saved. UMD had two more separate scoring chances in the first, but after a pair of shots missed the target with 12 minutes left and another pair of shots in the final four minutes were on target, the Corsairs were turned away by Andriski as KSC took their 1-0 lead into halftime.

Andriski opened the second half with a save 5:50 into action, but UMD continued to apply the pressure on the Owls' defense over the next 20 minutes as they outshot KSC 5-1, including three corner kicks as they tried to draw even. Shortly after Cassano made her first save of the half for UMD, the Corsairs were able to draw even with the Owls as Natalie Frazier's third shot on goal of the game finally found the back of the net as she snuck a shot under Andriski and inside the near post for the equalizer with 11:38 remaining. After scoring the tying goal, UMD continued to maintain possession for a lot of the remainder of the contest as they kept the pressure on KSC's defense. Despite the three shots over the remainder of the contest from UMD, none were on frame as the Owls were able to come away with the tie against UMD.

Inside the Box
  • KSC moves to 30-2-3 in the all-time series between the two teams, as UMD snapped the Owls' six-game winning streak dating back to 2019, where KSC outscored UMD 11-1. This was just the second time since 1997 where KSC was unable to take down UMD at home.
  • UMD had the 17-10 shot advantage, but they were inefficient with their opportunities as just 29.4% of their shots were on goal compared to 50% from KSC as each had five on target. UMD also had a 6-2 corner kick advantage with four in the second half.
  • Kenyon tallied her first goal of the season to go with her two assists on the year as she now is only one point away from tying her 2024 total of six points from each a pair of goals and assists.
  • Frazier led all participants with three shots on goal, while Kenyon led KSC with two.
  • Giuliana Stolfi and Elise Saab both anchored the Owls' defense by playing a full 90 minutes each for the second game in under three days.
  • Andriski and Cassano both finished the contest with four saves apiece.
