PROVIDENCE, R.I. – For the second consecutive week the Keene State College women's track and field team took home Little East Conference Relay of the Week from their performance over the weekend in this week's weekly LEC awards for the week of 2/2-2/8.
Women's Indoor Track and Field
The Owls' 4x400 relay team was named this week's LEC Relay of the Week as the group composed of freshman
Elle MacDonald (New Hampton, N.H.), sophomores
Caroline Cooper (Concord, N.H.) and
Keely Giordano (Milford, N.H.), and junior
Mia Cruz (Nashua, N.H.), ran a time of 4:00.02 in the event on Friday at the River Hawk Invitational hosted by the University of Massachusetts Lowell at theTrack at new balance. The time was sixth-best at the event, although it was the best Division III mark set of the competing team and current best mark in the LEC. The relay group came close to breaking the school record in the event by less than a second, as the school record time has stood for over 20 years as it was last set by Sarah Miller, Courtney Bates, Krystin Gavin, and Breanne Lucey's time of 3:59.10 from 2005.
The Owls return to action this weekend with select athletes competing at the David Hemery Valentine Invitational at Boston University on Friday, February 13, and others competing at the Tufts Cupid Challenge on Friday and also on Saturday, February 14.
