MEDFORD, Mass. – Junior
Tyler Bolaske posted a top-40 Division III time in the 3,000 meters as the Keene State College indoor track and field teams finished their pre-championship schedule by competing at the David Hemery Valentine Invitational hosted by Boston University and the Tufts Cupid Challenge on Friday and Saturday.
At BU, Bolaske ran the 3,000 meters in 8:18.39, bettering his last time in the event by seven seconds as he was the seventh-best Division III finisher in the event that had 209 participants – mostly from Division I. The time is the 40th-best in Division III and leaves him within striking distance of an NCAA qualification as the season hits the home stretch.
KSC also had a small contingent travel to Tufts on Saturday, with
Alex Nimiroski finishing fourth in the 60-meter dash open event while
Ethan Vitello won the 200 meter dash in 22.93, the only sub-23 second time at the event as he edged three members of the host Jumbos including runner-up Tieren Mead (23.06).
Jonathan DeAguiar was tenth (23.36) in the same event while
Jonathan MacQuarrie ran the 800 meters in 2:06.06 to place 24th. Vitello added a 12.56 meter triple jump and
Eric Carlo scored 3,595 points in the heptathlon.
On the women's side, the Owls had three participants in the 300 meters, with
Natalie Wilde the top finisher in 10th (1:05.08).
Erin Cole finished in 1:05.93 and
Carley Lonardo in 1:06.30.
Tessa Tanner ran the 800 meters in 2:37.78, while Eleni Papadopoulos had a time of 12:15.23 in the 3,000 meters and
Miranda Poirier a 10.40 in the 60 meter hurdles.
The Owls, with five current top 50 national marks across both sides, will now set their sites on the Little East Conference championship next Saturday at Plymouth State University's Bank of New Hampshire Fieldhouse at AllWell North.
