ROME, Italy – The Keene State College women's soccer team closed a memorable foreign trip with many memories and a second victory, downing Res Donna Roma 2-0 on a sizzling summer Sunday in Rome.
After numerous sightseeing opportunities and activities – to the tune of over 14,000 steps before the game – the Owls grinded through to post their second shutout victory on the trip.
Elizabeth Tschudin fed
Kylie Rapoza for a first half goal as the Owls led 1-0 at the break.
Mikayla Ryan added an insurance goal late in the second, potting a feed from
Kayla DiPasquale. KSC's keepers produced a second straight clean sheet in a game that featured three 20-minute periods due to the extreme heat, with
Hannah Verville getting the start and playing the first 30 minutes before
Allison Gough entered and finished the game.
"It was a great bonding experience for the team," said head coach Sarah Testo. "Most of our girls had never left the country before and the fact that they got experience this with their teammates is something none of them will forget. Traveling together, enjoying a different culture and playing the game they love…we played really good soccer for it being June in both games. I am excited to see what they can do in the fall."
Keene State returns home on Monday and will use the summer to continue to prepare for a 2026 season in which they will aim to return back to the top of the Little East Conference. The Owls will begin with a road contest at Emerson College on September 1 (6:00 p.m.) before hosting Wentworth Institute of Technology and Gordon College on September 5 and 6, respectively, on the turf field as part of their kickoff tournament.
Stay tuned for more later in the summer on their trip.
