KEENE, N.H. – After a first half lead provided by
Kaylee Cormier, the Keene State College women's soccer team was overpowered by Western New England University, allowing three goals in 11 minutes as the Owls eventually fell to the Golden Bears 3-1.

How it Happened
KSC's first shot of the contest was blocked by a WNE defender, but on the ensuing KSC corner kick,
Claire Halligan poked the loose ball to
Kaylee Cormier, and she buried it into the back of the net to give KSC the lead 8:40 into the contest. The Owls looked to net their second goal just shortly after, but Ainsley Napolitano saved
Emily O'Connell's shot to limit KSC's lead to one in the 12th minute. Over the next 21 minutes only one shot on goal was recorded by either team as Michaela DiCiccio made her first save of the game for the Owls on Meghan Hartnett in the 33rd minute. The remainder of the opening half all the three shots from KSC did not reach the target as WNE blocked a pair of the shots, while on the other side of the field DiCiccio made another save for the Owls to maintain the 1-0 lead heading into the half.
The adjustments that WNE made in the second half worked wonders as the Golden Bears opened up the scoring in the second with a goal from Sophia Scycurka 5:36 into the half. After DiCiccio responded with a save on her next shot that she faced, WNE netted their next two chances with Scycurka scoring another goal and Abigail Alicandro scoring the Golden Bears' third goal over 11 minutes to jump to a 3-1 lead in the 62nd minute. After DiCiccio denied Tess Chevalier's shot a few minutes later to prevent a three-goal lead, KSC was on the attack the other way, but after entering for WNE in goal in the second half, Adara Boucher saved both shots that she saw in net over the next 20 minutes and the other three shots from KSC missed the target. The rest of the way KSC was unable to claw back from the two-goal deficit and the Owls fell to the Golden Bears, 3-1.
