A native of Amherst, N.H., Nutting is a familiar name to followers of Keene State College athletics, as he played both hockey (for the ACHA club team) and lacrosse with the Owls. He was a two-time Offensive Player of the Year in the Little East Conference for men's lacrosse and was named an honorable mention All-American. Before Keene, Joe played lacrosse at the University of Massachusetts-Lowell and junior hockey for the New Hampshire Junior Monarchs.
Nutting scored 100 points as an Owl hockey player and spent two seasons at Franklin Pierce University as an associate head coach and interim head coach for the men's ice hockey team. Joe has returned to Keene State to split duties as an assistant coach for both the Owl's men's lacrosse and men's ice hockey teams.
Nutting is primarily responsible for the team’s forwards and offense. Under Nutting’s guidance, KSC posted the 15th best power play in the country in 2024-2025, led by Marcus Chrisafideis who was 4th in the country in goals per game and 13th in points per game.
Joe lives in Keene with his girlfriend, Katie Moorehead ’22.
