'PORT RICHEY, FLA. 3/18/03 – The Keene State College
men's lacrosse team opened its 2003 season with a 15-4 loss to
Amherst College in a game played Tuesday night at Port Richey, Fla.
The Owls, who trailed 3-0 after the first quarter, couldn't hold
off a strong Amherst team, ranked third in the New England
Intercollegiate Lacrosse Association (NEILA) poll. "I don't
think the score indicated how well we played," said KSC Coach Mark
Theriault. "We just made too many mistakes and you can't do
that against a team like Amherst."
Meade McKay (Stratham, N.H.) led the Owls with two goals.
Ben Bradley (South Hadley, MA.) a transfer from UMA-Dartmouth and
Chad Tiger (Port Murray, N.J.) netted the other KSC goals.
Eric Delisle (Amherst, N.H.), a first-team All-LEC goalie last
season, made 19 saves.
Chris Condlin had four goals to lead the Jeffs (2-1).
KSC scrimmages against Colby College on Friday before returning
home to face the University of New England on Wednesday at Owl
