'BABSON PARK, MASS. 5/10/03 – Eric Momnie (So.
Windsor, Conn.) did all he could to hlep his Keene State lacrosse
team stage a comeback for the ages in the semifinals of the ECAC
Tournament Saturday at Babson Park, Mass. But Momnie and the
Owls came up one goal shot in a 13-12 overtime loss to Endicott
College.
The third-seeded Owls (12-5) trailed by five goals entering the
fourth quarter, but four straight goals by Momnie pulled KSC to
within one, and teammate Greg Richard (Nashua, N.H.) scored the
tying goal with 3:26 to send the game into overtime.
Endicott's Paul Lord (Derry, N.H.) scored the game-winner 2:03
into the first overtime.
The no. two seeded Power Gulls led 6-2 midway through the second
quarter and 8-6 at halftime. Endicott appeared to have put
the game away with three straight goals at the end of the third
quarter, including two in the final minute.
Monie socred a total of five goals for the Owls. Meade McKay
(Stratham, N.H.) and Travis Pedley (Bow, N.H.) scored a pair. Joe
Branciforte (Cromwell, Conn.) and Ben Bradley (South Hadley, Mass.)
also scored for Keene State. Eric Delisle (Amherst, N.H.)
made six saves in net for the Owls.
Keene State concludes its season with a 12-5 record, tying the
program record for wins in a season set last year.
