'KEENE, N.H. 5/7/03 – Playing in his final game at Owl
Stadium, senior midfielder Chad Tiger (Port Murray, N.J.) had six
goals to lead the third seeded Keene State College men's lacrosse
team to a 18-3 victory over sixth seed Wentworth Institute in a
ECAC Division III Men's Lacrosse Quarterfinal Tournament game in
Keene on Wednesday.
Keene State (12-4), which tied the program's record for win in a
season (set last year), moves on to the semifinal round at Babson
College on Saturday (1 or 4 p.m.) where they will face second seed
Endicott College. Endicott defeated seventh seed Lasell College
17-7 in its opening round contest.
Eric Momnie (South Windsor, Conn.) and Joe Branciforte
(Cromwell, Conn.) had four goals each and Ben Bradley (So. Hadley,
Mass.), Meade McKay (Stratham, N.H.), Nate Ball (Londonderry, N.H.)
added single goals for the Owls.
Keith Walcott (Essex Junction, Vt.), Dan Mattock (Hollis, N.H.),
and Dan Kelleher (Marshfield, Mass.) had goals for Wentworth (6-7),
which was making its first post season trip in the program's
six-year history.
With the scored knotted at two-all, Keene State exploded with 15
unanswered goals taking a 4-2 lead after the first quarter and a
10-2 halftime advantage.
Eric Delisle (Amherst, N.H.) had 14 saves and Ryan Connary
(Buxton, Me.) finished with four saves in the final quarter for
KSC. Rich Hamaty (Hingham, Mass.) stopped 14 shots for the
Leopards.
It was the first meeting between the two lacrosse teams.
KSC lost to Babson in the semifinals of last year's tournament.
