'ORLANDO, FLA. 03/14/05 - The Keene State College men's lacrosse
team suffered its second loss of the season (13-9) to 18th ranked
Amherst College in a game played Monday in Orlando, Fla.
Senior Eric Momnie (South Windsor, Conn.) led the Owls with four
goals. Ryan Hazleton (Derry, N.H.) scored his first
collegiate goal, while Meade McKay (Stratham, N.H.), Travis Pedley
(Bow, N.H.), Sean Panora (South Windsor, Conn.), and Greg Richards
(Nashua, N.H.) netted the other KSC goals.
"It was definitely a good game for the program," said KSC Coach
Mark Theriault. "We had a balanced offensive attack and our
defense was solid. I'm pleased with the way we played
today."
Despite the loss, sophomore midfielder Mike LeSage (Exeter,
N.H.) dominated face-offs winning 19-of-24.
Sophomores Chris Hofmann (New Canaan, CT) had five goals and
Derek Cherney (Chappaqua, NY) added four goals to lead the Jeffs
(1-0).
KSC's freshman goalie Matt Johnson (Derry, N.H.) and Amherst's
Cushing Donelan (Noroton, CT) finished with 15 saves each.
Keene State (0-2) will face RPI on Thursday in Florida.
