'KEENE, N.H. 4/3/05 - Eric Momnie (South Windsor, Conn.) had
five goals and two assists and Meade MacKay (Stratham, N.H.) added
two goals and five assists to lead Keene State College over
UMass-Dartmouth 13-5 in a Little East Conference men's lacrosse
game played Sunday afternoon at Owl Athletic Complex.
Keene State improves to 2-4 (1-0 LEC) while UMD goes to 2-3 (0-1
LEC).
Taking a 1-0 lead in the first quarter on a goal by Peter
Lauranzano (Beverly, Mass.), KSC outscored UMD 5-2 in the second to
take a 6-2 halftime lead. Momnie, , netted three consecutive
goals in a span of five minutes in the second quarter.
"We did a good job of figuring out their defense and I was able
to get some good shots," said Momnie, who increased his team lead
in goals to 23. "UMass-Dartmouth has traditionally been one
of the top teams in the conference, so it was important for us to
make a statement with today's win. We want to win the LEC
Championship."
Sean Panora (South Windsor, Conn.) scored three goals, and Greg
Gonzalez (Yorktown Heights, N.Y.) and Travis Pedley (Bow, N.H.)
added single goals for KSC.
Ryan Grant (Framingham, Mass.) led UMD with a pair of goals.
Matt Johnson (Derry, N.H.) finished with four saves for the Owls
while Steve Chase (Boston, Mass.) stopped 18 shots for the
Corsairs.
Keene State is off until next Saturday when it travels to
UMass-Boston for a 1
