'BIDDEFORD, Maine -- Powered by four goals and four assists from
Peter Lauranzano '08 (Beverly, Mass.), the Keene State College Owls
improved to 4-0 with a 14-6 non-conference victory over the
University of New England on Saturday afternoon. Lauranzano has
nine goals and 10 assists theis season.
KSC's 4-0 start this season is the best in program
history. Last year, KSC lost its first four game, before
winning 10 straight on the way to claiming the LEC Tournament and
receiving an NCAA Tournament berth.
Keene State jumped on UNE early, outscoring the Nor'easters 4-1
in the first period. Sean Panora '07 (South Windsor, Conn.)
scored two of his four goals in the opening frame to help the Owls
to their quick start.Panora has a team high 12 goals this season.
Lauranzano drilled home a pair of goals in the second frame as
Keene extended its lead to 7-3.
The Nor'easters scored the first goal of the third period to cut
the deficit to three (7-4), but UNE would get no closer the rest of
the afternoon as the Owls tallied seven of the next eight goals.
Matt Johnson '08 (Derry, N.H.) stopped 18 shots for the winners,
who will look for their fifth straight win Monday when they
entertain New England College.
UNE (2-3) received three goals from Ryan Rivard '06 (East
Freetown, Mass.), while goalie A.J. Gagliardi '07 (Branford, Conn.)
recorded 12 saves.
