'KEENE, N.H. 3/4/06 - The Keene State College men's lacrosse
team opened up its 2006 season with a 15-3 non-conference victory
over Johnson State (Vt.) College at Owl Athletic Complex on
Saturday.
Sophomore midfielder Taylor Morasutti (Cheshire, Conn.) scored
three goals and sophomore attackman Peter Lauranzano (Beverly,
Mass.) finished with two goals and four assists to lead the Owls
who bolted out to a 12-0 halftime lead.
Greg Gonzales (Yorktown Heights, N.Y.), Rodney Arganese
(Trumbull Conn.), and Casey Brodersen (Derry, N.H.) netted two
goals each while Joe Ryder (Concord, N.H.), Sean Panora (South
Windsor, Conn.), Grant Pickering (Kennebunk, Me.) and Jeff Miles
(Keene, N.H.) added single goals.
KSC Coach Mark Theriault was pleased that he got many of his
young players into the game. "This one of those games where I
was afforded the opportunity to essentially get everyone in and it
was good for several of our freshmen to get their feet wet."
Seth Vaczy (Middlebury, Vt.) scored two goals and Morgan Sasso
(St. Albans, Vt.) had one goal for Johnson State.
Filling in between the pipes, Andrew Denley (Wolfboro, N.H.)
stopped five shots for KSC. Matt Martin (Vergennes, Vt.) made
five saves for the Badgers, who are coached by former Owl Craig
Roach.
Keene State has a tentative game scheduled at Franklin Pierce
College on Wednesday.
