'NORTH DARTMOUTH, MA-Keene State scored 10 unanswered goals,
seven of them in the second quarter, took an 11-1 halftime lead,
and went on to defeat the University of Massachusetts Dartmouth
men's lacrosse team, 14-3, in the Little East Conference opener for
both teams at Cressy Field Saturday afternoon.
Sean Panora (So. Windsor, Conn.) had two goals and Peter
Lauranzano (Beverly, Mass.) and Mike Fontaine (Wolfeboro,
N.H.)netted single goals as KSC went up 4-1 after the first
quarter.
Panora and Tony Santa Fe (Derry, N.H.) each scored twice for KSC
in the second quarter in the seven goal uprising.
Panora finished with seven goals and two assists for Keene
State, while Santa Fe added two goals and two assists.
KSC out shot the Corsairs, 48-17. UMass Dartmouth
goalkeeper Steve Chase made 19 saves, while KSC goalie Matt Johnson
(Derry, N.H.) stopped eight shots.
The Corsairs dropped to 1-7 and 0-1 in LEC play with the defeat,
while Keene State improved to 6-0 and 1-0. UMass Dartmouth will
return to action when they visit UMass Boston in another Little
East Conference game Tuesday afternoon.
