'KEENE, N.H. 04/29/06 - Freshman attack Tony Santa Fe (Derry,
N.H.) scored a season high five goals and added an assist to lead
Keene State College to a 16-4 Little East Conference men's lacrosse
victory over the University of Southern Maine at Owl Athletic
Complex on Saturday.
Finishing second in the LEC, Keene State (10-2, 5-1 LEC) will
get a first round tournament bye and host the winner of the
UMass-Dartmouth/UMass-Boston quarterfinal game in a semifinal LEC
Tournament contest on Thursday (3:30 p.m.). Southern Maine
concludes its season at 2-10 (0-6 LEC).
Santa Fe, who now has 22 goals this season, had two goals and
one assist as KSC jumped out to a 4-0 lead after the first
quarter. He would tally three more goals in the second
quarter as KSC increased its lead to 11-1 at halftime.
Playing his first game of the season after an illness, junior
attack Greg Gonzales (Yorktown Heights, N.Y.) came off the bench to
score four goals. Taylor Morasutti (Cheshire, Conn.) added
three goals and Mike LeSage (Exeter, N.H.), Sean Panora (South
Windsor, Conn.), Peter Lauranzano (Beverly, Mass.), and Matt Lowe
(Hudson, Mass.) added singles goals for the Owls.
Zach Fermanis (Gorham, Me.) led the Huskies with two goals and
two assists.
KSC goalie Matt Johnson (Derry, N.H.) made three saves before
giving way to Brad Bishop (Brunswick, Me.) with six minutes to play
in the second quarter. He finished with six saves.
Jeff Lamoureux (Walpole, Mass.) had a busy day in goal for USM
finishing the game with 24 saves.
Keene State has won the last five meetings between the two
teams.
